  • College Sports Day.

OK, so I am too old for mosts sports, even cricket, I only took part in the croquet and played chess. But afterwards, was the barbecue, and free drinks, nothing much in the help for my stomach, but after that about 40 of us took part in a general knowledge quiz, and despite the bigwood there, the professors and so on, I won! With 37½

points out of 40. (sample question: what is the third nearest star that can be seen by the naked eye? a: Sirius). He he, and me with only half of a functioning brain in theory! (I won a crate of beer!)

I got given a great book of poems by a geography teacher, he made the book himself, a sort of self-vanity, but he’s a damn good poet. I tried to get him to join Xanga, but I bet he won’t, of the four I did presuade to join, only Closehippie is still blogging. Ah well.

Why this post? To show off I suppose, well, no one in my family will give a tinker’s*, so I have to puff my feathers to someone!

Not many seem to visit this blog of mine, though it’s the truth of me, rather than me hiding behind false personæ.

    Terry.

(*Tinker’s, Cockney slang from Tinker’s luck, meaning, well guess!)

  • Hurrah for you!
Running, I could run very fast.
Do you still have the book of poems?
Well, I think this is something to be very proud of and well worth puffing feathers!!

  • woo hoo on the win. isn’t winning the best.
a crate of beer…that sounds so much better than a case of beer. so many of the colloquialisms of the UK really appeal to me.
    Cheers ~jacki

  • Hee, you know why they gave you a crate of beer yeah?  So it will kill your brain cells and someone else will have a chance next time!  Hahah! No such luck!

  • Brilliant stuff, Terry! Ain’t it grand to beat the “big wigs”? I bags you to be on my table at our next fun quiz!

And being an Aussie, we use a lot more British colloquialisms than our American counterparts. Do I say what “tinker,s” means or stay stumm and not spoil your fun?  *winks*  Maybe I wont give a tinker’s and just say!!  hehehehe  Nahhhh….  : )

  • Another question was a line by Wilfred Gibson, a late Victorian poet…There was the line, I had to “guess” the poet.

  • Pray tell about the ancient vintage photo here on the comment page….I love that!

please describe to me a “victorian Poet”

  • I love hearing about your life and visit this and your personas when I can.  Congratulations on winning!

Life has been so blasted busy lately.  Youth are cursed with healthy bodies, busy minds, and so little time to enjoy any of it… then we’ll get older and wonder what happened to it all.

  • I don’t think there are many in xanga that doubt your intelligence. You continue to amaze me on a regular basis! Infinite Blessings

  • A crate of beer is an excellent prize for being the  best at trivia. If you drink it all at once, maybe the others would stand a chance at winning.

    Congrats, and enjoy. ~Angie

  • Congrats, that is awesome!!!  And beer is a fabulous prize.  Teehee

  • Who is this fine poet you speak so highly of?

14 dylan albums.  And here I thought you couldn’t stand the man.

  • Teilhard, ….”a

universe filled with thinking stars in a psychical (?) touch with other focal points of consciousness across the abyss of space.” ??

    This Jesuit  sees it as

an inevitable welding together of science and mysticism in a great tide of evolutive power …and throw in jesus …humm I must have a word with thoses crazy birds ..their master is up to something “unimaginable and beyond the reach of most cultivators”….

hummm.. i would diagnose it as magnetite on the brain…

  • Beer Win:  This was an upbeat entry and so much fun to read.  They can say winning is not what it’s cut out to be if they want but I say a win is a time to crow.  Very good crowing you do I might say, I love it.  I do hope you enjoy each and every one of those beers and, drink them all yourself.  ONe at a time I might add.  Maybe have one of them online with me.  I’ll have John go buy me a beer to drink while we visit.  That should make for some really great typos.

    Regards,

  • Beer win Blog 2nd comment:  This is by the way, maybe my favorite blog to visit.  Better late than never is what I always say.

  • I’ve only recently subscribed to this site, and a couple of your alter egos as well. I enjoy all of them very much, and it’s nice to know that at least one of them is the “real” you.
