  • Before I get to the big things, Little Egypt’s comments in the Lord Pineapple’s comment-box strike me, an athiest, once again, people sitting waiting to die. It’s nice if you can pretend there is something there afterwards, not that the thought of living forever strikes me as all that special, but there is a feeling it’s not all just a waste. sadly it is.

Everything that lives must die, it is part of reality, we were nothing before birth, so why be arrogent and say there is something after death?

I am here waiting to die, the joys of my life is over, I have half of a brain, a lousy job (I used to have a good job. BTW, funny how certain people stop eMailing me when they realise that I am poor. Have they no compassion?) I can’t drive anymore or even have sex, I am fat old and lonely, and yet I carry on, spurred by the fact when I die so will my memories of those who died before me, my mother, my father, my six-year old daughter, friends, work-mates, all people with more love than in their hearts you can imagine, all passed away. And I hold a part of each of them in my mind, and when I am gone, that something will die too. So for them alone do I live on.

    Now for some serious stuff.

    Freedom and the Press.

The media in the United Kingdom is only “free” when the government and it’s bogeymen wish it to be so.

Newspapers need firms to advertise, firms give money to the government, criticise a firm or upset a government and advertisers pull out. The only papers that do try to get away with the truth are the alternative lifestyle press, and years of trashing such papers and sueing them and raiding their offices have forced them all to the wall.

I once had a lot of my private papers taken away merely because I had troubled someone high up in the Northern Ireland Assembly, and asked them awkward questions about an army-led killing.

A reporter who was convinced that the Lockabee plane-bombing was orchestrated by the CIA had his children picked up from school by the police who tried to get them to say that their father abused them.

And a reporter from another coal-area newspaper found proof that some of the so called scabs were not strike-breaking but going in to wreck the coal-faces and pit-heads, so when the strike was over the coal miners would be laid off. The reporter was knocked over by a hit and run driver whom the police seemed rather uneager to search for, and at the reporter’s funeral, his house was broken into and the only things missing were his notes and the “proof”.

Do not ever think that because you can vote, you live in a free society, because you do not, freedom is an illusion, I know, I WAS THERE.

  • That you carry that love in your heart and memories, Terry, says more about the beauty in your soul than you can imagine. I would love to see Scotland even once, You are blessed by your memories of it.-Margot

  • I got the distinct impression from the comment you left that you would rather I not sub to your site. If this is the case, let me know.

As for controvercy, we live in a world where controvercy is an everyday occurence.

What a beautiful picture. Reminds me of places I have been and places I would like to be.

Take care and have a wonderful Sunday!

  • my dad’s favorite show is cops…he likes to be able to say “nigger” and “bitch” at the people getting arrested. well…cops and the news…he likes to talk about who he calls “sand niggers” too. i too hope i don’t turn up as a hateful and intolerant adult.

  • Scotland.  Take me with you.

  • Well, about wasted religion and wasted desire for a life after death.  I hope you are wrong is the only thing I can come up with for that one.  I don’t know if there is anyone who can say they know, there are those who say it but I think the mind is a powerful tool and can do a lot in itself to persuade us of things.  It has a life as it were of its own.  I only hope we do have something after this, and, I hope you have one heck of a good after life and I hope I get to meet you there to talk a little.  I think I probably won’t get to meet you here and that is a shame.  If ever I have the chance, I will knock on your door.

Government and Freedom, again, no expert here but I feel I know enough to know they are all wealthy who are in control, they all enjoy being wealthy, they all enjoy position, they all like being important and none of them will willingly give any of it up to have less or to be put into a position like most of the working class or lesser.  Trust them I don’t, wish for something better in a governmental head, yes.  Do I think it can or will happen, not without a lot of pulling together.  The world has become much more difficult that it has ever been and we, the people who oppose those in control, only make it more difficult and they don’t take kindly to that.  It’s a dangerous place to be, a dissenter.

  • As usual, forgot something, great picture and if you get there, send me a ticket.

  • Oh, definitely, government is bound to be the most corrupt organization on the planet. And you, Clowne, will never truly die and fade away because you will always be remembered by your amazing poetry and will live on in our hearts! ~Scotland, sigh…~

  • Is it possible that the exact opposite is true?

That everything that lives continues to live after death?  That every living thing has a soul that manipulates whatever biological material it inhabits – then that soul (or energy or whatever name you want to give it) continues to live after the biological material dies?
It is just as arrogant to assume that there is nothing before birth as it is to say there is nothing after death.

At the bottom of it all – since none of it is at all verifiable – I hope you are well

  • Of course there’s never been anything like real freedom for anybody who isn’t a stinking rich politically connected power freak. And their freedom is only incidental .. until somebody takes it from them. But we DO have the freedom to chase after it and make googly eyes at it. And the best freedom of all is the freedom to forget about it. Pretend it’s a given, and you’ll seldom be proven wrong. It’s in their interest for us to think we’re free too. Then they can claim no advantage.

  • Yep yep yep! Living in America is not all it’s cracked up to be politically speaking. Hey, the majority of us do our duty, run to the polls stand in line like MooCows, and vote. Do we really think we are making a difference? Meh…it’s a matter of opinion I suppose. I have known a few politicians who started out as these fervent youngsters wanting to change the world! It never lasts. They get caught up in the power and money and their idealism goes right out the window. Oh well. I’ve gotten to the point where voting feels like chosing between the lesser of two evils. Ha ha ha.
So you do have a belief system after all….if you believe there is nothing after life, then you believe in something…right? lol, I think I am still asleep.

  • Oh how I loved your comment! I agree, I am getting so very tired of religion being stuffed down my throat! I  Literally never make it through an entire week without someone knocking at my door asking if I’ve found Jesus? Damn, did you lose him again, I ask? You Christians are always losing your God!
I promise never to post my religious beliefs on your site unless you specifically ask for them! And I try not to post them on my site unless I feel the need(usually quotes), or unless someone has requested it.

I think I may have a drop or two of British blood, I know I have Scots in me! If you ever make it back to Scotland, walk through a field for me please.

  • Ach Ayyyyeee laddie, tha’ I wull!

  • *raising glass* Here’s to Scotland!

Mom became a born again Scot several years ago. She had two who would vouch for her (Dad and her boss) and then some kind of drinking ceremony. Better than religion any day!

  • uh huh

  • Hey thanks for stopping by my site. Its nice here in Scotland despite the weather!

There are few truley independent newspapers these days that don’t have a hidden agenda or an obvious agenda (Fox news).

  • Thank you, Dear, for visiting my site!  It’s true, I suppose, that I could run a campaign, to build readership of my Xanga site.  Hahahahaha!  Goddess for Prez…oh, yeah!  That would go over well! *snicker*

My boyfriend is an atheist.  Shares your thoughts about Life, Death, Mortality.  (And our spiritual beliefs and differences are never an issue, between us.)  I tried convicing myself of those things, for awhile.  I am actually ordained by the Church of Spiritual Humanism.  *grin*  And, since I do not have to adhere to any particular faith to keep my ordination, I think it’s cool, either way.  While participating in the forums, with those at aforementioned site, I found myself wondering…I have had experiences that cannot be explained.  Members there tried telling me I was the victim of my parlor tricks and my own imagination.  I, often, don’t know how to label certain experiences, but I won’t deny them or apply labels I ~know~ aren’t correct.

    *sigh*

I find Life extremely interesting and entertaining.  I do not live waiting for some “future” reward that may or may not happen, after death.  I do not know all the answers.  I usually stick with the ones that “seem” right, at the time…those that give me the greatest sense of peace and inspiration and motivation.  If I am fooling myself, it is only for my own betterment…and for those around me.  I rarely talk about “what I believe”…*lol*…since it isn’t carved in stone.  You stumbled upon a rarity, in my blog.  I have taken time to do a lengthy explanation of why some people do not believe in Chrisitianity, to another fellow blogger, who wears her beliefs like a weapon.  But that was done for me, too…a little self-affirmation, so to speak.

Living in America?  The state I live in voted for Al Gore, in the last election.  We all know how much that mattered.  I am registered.  I will vote.  I will not vote for Bush.  Many Americans agree with the reasons you stated that we are at war.  Bush is an embarrassment…and the war is a travesty and scourge on the face of the planet.  I would not live anywhere else…well, I only say that because I haven’t lived anywhere else and really don’t have anything to compare it to…hehehehe…  I love my country…but Freedom?  It is held like a prize, by those in power…”It’s yours!  It’s yours!” they tell us…”but only if you…”  And that’s where they get us!

I’m poor too…I no longer seem to count.  I had to tell a doctor in the ER three times that I do not drink, when he saw that I was getting government aid (while he was prescribing cough medicine…).  The judgements made about/against the poor are ridiculous!  AAAAAAAARGH!  Give me lots of money…and influence…and tell me who I have to fight to give people a little dignity!  We both know we can do very little, from “down here.”

Now, I’ve given myself a small headache…*lol*  Oh, well, pain is a sign that you’re still alive, I’ve been told.  Gee, I think I feel more alive every day! *wink*

    Peace and Love…GFW

  • Pish tosh! If you really loved me you’d have chewed up the davinport. Now spit that cat out and get me a cool cloth for my head.

  • I agree. Freedom is an illusion, and it is particularly one in “democracies.”

  • Wow, I am so impressed with how you express yourself. I don’t think people care one way or the other if others are poor or rich and if they do who needs them?  I agree with you about the freedom issue.  I have seen things here that threaten us having a voice in governement. I won’t even go there because I could take up pages.

For what it is worth I don’t read you as an old poor lady. I read you as a dynamic writer that is ageless, timeless. Maybe keep a journal and write down all of those memories so they do live on. You are very good at it and could give it the glory it deserves.

I hope to be reading a lot more like this.  Take care and I will be back!!!!!

Oh, yeah and I came here to thank you for your input about my daughter’s friends. I can always use all feedback in situations like that.  Take care!!!!!

  • ……we live, we love, we lose, we learn…….

    peace and love to you………

  • Terry, this is Bev. Please leave a comment on this site and I will be in touch.

  • I don’t read myself as a poor old lady either funny enough.

  • It is good to read your observations on the state of our freedom. Until more people wake up to situation very little will be achieved. I hope your contributions are heard.
